Lapjacks give our notebooks that "one off" look

Not a day goes past where we don't have to duck and dive into highstreet corners, puddles or similar to get away from the woman who is wearing the exact same dress or jacket as us.

Now, don’t get us wrong, we are not being snobby – after all Topshop off the rail is hardly a metaphor for “one off creation,” but sometimes we don’t like to be seen next to the girl whose legs/arms/ chest looks better in the clothing we decided to wear for the day.

So imagine our glee when we heard about Toshiba’s new service that allows you to design an entirely original, customised cover for your notebook.

The Lapjacks service lets you choose from thousands of high quality images, upload your own digital photographs or even create an original design and submit it for production. The designs are then printed onto an adhesive vinyl cover, which like a pair of Levi’s for you legs, is made to fit the exact dimensions of your notebook.

Prices start from £14.99 for pre-stocked imagery and £29.99 for customised designs – we just wish one off pieces of clothing were so cheap.

The MINI - a device that won’t leave us blue in the tooth

Lets be honest, traditional Bluetooth devices weren’t really
made for us gadget girls were they?

Not only can they be uncomfortable but they also make us look
like a bad presenter from QVC – that is, unless they are covered in nice pink
diamonds.

Also,
if you have been blessed with Dumbo ears then you’ll
probably agree that they also don’t always fit.

No? Well maybe that’s just us and someone from Bluetrek then,
because the company has launched a new style of Bluetooth.

those who like to share more than a bit of gossip the headset/necklace also comes
with 7 hours of continuous talk time - or 10 days standby time for the times of
laryngitis.

Geek Wedding rings – wear your computer on your finger

Hmm, we no longer feel so bad about getting drunk and losing
our wedding ring down the pipes in the bathroom – we wish we were joking -
because it means we can now get ourselves a funky geek wedding ring as a
replacement.

Designed by Seattle based metal smith Jana Brevick, the geek
wedding rings are designed from old computer parts, such as male and female
serial connectors, to bind many a happy couple.

If you are feeling particularly
loving towards your other half, the way that these rings have been made means that they can be plugged together. This, makes an excellent alternative to holding hands – especially if one of
you suffers from sweaty Betty hands.

Now they may be a bit bigger than your average size zero
diamond but that makes them perfect for those who are prone to dropping things
down small holes – well a ring as big as this won’t easily slip down pipes and plugholes
will it.

Cassettes chewed up and chucked out by Currys

Ladies who lovingly made a compilation cassette tape to impress the opposite sex and who loved the sounds a chewed tape emitted - often like you had dunked the singers head under water - will be as disappointed as us to hear that Currys is slowly killing off the audio cassette.

Yes, that’s right, the product we all grew up with and loved has finally been committed to its dreadful death by the electronics retailer who has bowed to digital pressure and is outing the product to make more room for iPods and mp3 players.

Currys will continue for now to sell existing stocks of cassette tapes, but these will not be replenished giving the products a shelf life of at least 18 months.

The store will also phase out tape decks by Christmas, which are currently available in less than five per cent of audio equipment – better hurry up get all you old mix tapes copied onto CD then.

Picoo Z Micro Helicopters make being housebound fun

If the wet and windy weather leaves you housebound for fear of ruining your newly blowdried hair and you want to do something a bit more interesting than read or watch TV, then the lightweight indoor Picoo Z Micro Helicopters may be just what you need.

The ‘copters, which are only 6 inches long, need no assembly or fiddling with batteries, you just pull them straight ‘outta the box and they are ready to fly.

Because they are so easy to use no experience is needed either – well we suppose we should put our pilot’s license away then.

The choppers will take off, hover, turn left or right and will annoy your cat, dog, nan or whoever happens to be in the house, for a full 10 minutes before they need to be refuelled. Unlike cheap airline flights this only takes half an hour.

For those who like to make members of the family think that they have been invaded by aliens in the middle of the night these little flying gems also come with LED strobe lights – well anything that hovers around you when you’re half asleep/drunk looks like a UFO doesn’t it.

The helcopters/UFO’s/ annoying flying things are available from crazy about gadgets from June. They come in Khaki, Silver and Pink.

TechVision adds 10” to bath time fun

Ladies of bath-time leisure, we have found the perfect accompaniment to the previously mentioned bath spa lights.

TechVision has launched a 10.4" Digital Waterproof TV with a built in DVB-T tuner for that extra bath time entertainment.

The TV, which comes in a sleek white finish, with onboard speakers, has been built especially for the bath or shower.

It even comes with a waterproof remote control which is handy for those of us who are prone to dropping things in the tub -yep we have shared ours with a good few books and mags.

At £600 this water baby is not a bargain, but the fact that you won’t need to pay anyone to help you install it as it can easily be fastened to the wall, or mounted using a vesa-wall bracket, will save you a good few notes.

As it’s not out until the end of May you also have a month to save for it.

However, a word of warning - we know how tempting it will be to sit and watch that extra episode of friends but we have told you once and we will tell you again, ageing prunes are not a good look!

As we have said before, they are beautiful and look like the
kind of handbag you would expect to see on the likes of fashionable celebrities
and yes, before you ask, they do come with the celebrity price tag - £170 for
the big one and £159 for the little one.

So why are we telling you about them again we hear you ask?

Hello Kitty finds the key[board] to our hearts

We know were too old to be getting excited about Hello Kitty products but there is something about the feline furball that’s hard to resist.

The new Sanrio Hello Kitty USB Keyboard is no different tugging as tightly on our heartstrings as a stray cat and making it difficult to refuse.

Or it might just be that this little typing gem is a lazy girl’s best friend.

Not only does it come with hot keys to connect to the internet but you can also use it to control your multimedia through the play/stop/change track and volume buttons.

Still not convinced? Well how about if we told you it also has an ergonomic design too – hmm knew that would appeal to the healthy people amongst us- yes you might not have any qualms about using a mouse to get onto the internet but you can’t argue with products that help RSI.

Pimp up your PS3 with a lick of Colorware

Being girls of the gadget world and women of knowledge it is sometimes not
enough for us to have a standard looking Wii, Xbox or PS3.

Yes black and silver are nice solid colours but sometimes we need a console that
matches our lifestyle as well as our gadget loves and this is where Colorware
comes in handy.

The company can pimp up your playing machine with the colour of your choice
for just $99 all you have to do is chose the colour you want from the site and
then
send the console over to them.

However, like any decorator the price goes up
if you want extras such as
contrasting buttons, complementary controls and shaded fascias.

Hmm, wonder if we can do a deal by offering them free tea and biccies?

Spa lights are gorgeous floating bath lights which come with

Gadget Goddesses get yourselves on TV

Now don’t get us wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a passion for fashion.

However, if like us, you are more geek chic than fashion freak, preferring to spend all your money on LG rather than Louis Vuitton then we think we might have found you a perfect opportunity.

Celador Productions are on the hunt for tech loving ladies who spend a vast majority of their money on gadgets for a new BBC series.

As part of the programme, they will be taken on a journey to find out how gadgets are produced following the progress from the source to when they land on shelves.

Now, Celador have been looking for people since the beginning of the year but we have been informed that the boys are applying more than us gadget goddesses, so come on Techboutiquettes, do us proud.

Contact Catherine Lucock at Celador, nab yourself a spot on the programme and show the world that we gadget girls are proud to be around. Oh, and good luck.

The blinging Motorola Blutooth is EARily nice

Oh how we mocked our big brothers at Gizmodo when they wrote
about the Bling Bluetooth headset for girls.

Well we hope they have forgotten the extent of our jibes
because we are now following in their footsteps with news of the blinging Motorola
Bluetooth headset.

Created by the Crystal Chick, it contains double the Swarvoski crystals, of the prementioned (anything you can do boys, we can do better) and has up to eight hours talk time.

Not is it a
sparkling sight but will also make you a good law abiding citizen – yes you
should know by now girls that using a mobile phone when driving is illegal.

See
we told you Tech Boutique was educational.

The USB Desktop Tanning Centre lets you tan whilst you type.

Now don’t get us wrong, we love the summer, and the fact
that it has been trying to sneak its way into our lives this month is a welcome
intrusion.

However, we are sure you’ll agree that the one bad thing
about such an early arrival is that we are not prepared.

No were not talking about clothes- they can easily be sorted
with a quick click on ASOS at your desk - not that we do that or anything Mr
Boss- we are just talking about a friend of a friend…. Ahem.

Anyway, before we dig our hole deeper than we have, and
security comes to escort us from the building let us get to the point.

So no, we’re not talking about clothes but about the tan,
because there is nothing worse than wearing that new ASOS top with white pasty arms
and faces.

Of course, there is always the sun tower but if like us, you
loath the 7 minutes of standing and rotating like a cooking chicken then the
USB Desktop Tanning Centre, created by ThinkGeek, is a perfect alternative.

Now again we are not encouraging you to do naughty things
whilst you are working (reading Tech Boutique is ok because it’s educational)
but we couldn’t resist telling you about it.

The USB Desktop Tanning Centre has two base units that
attach to either side of your monitor each with 4 WOLFFE Ultra-violet 100 watt
bulbs (that’s a lot of tanning quality). It also has a variable rate knob for
those who are fair or dark.

If this wasn’t enough it also comes with those goggle
thingies they make you wear.

Sound too perfect? Well we have just realised it is.

Being gullable
we tried to buy it – for home use of course – only to be told it was a trick.

Oh dear, it’s
nearly as bad as finding out that Santa isn’t real.
