Although we weren’t lucky enough to be teenagers in the original
retro era we can’t complain that we have missed out. In fact we count ourselves lucky to be in the Retro00 era, where retro gadgets mix with the technology of 2007.
The Retro iPod alarm clock (IF200) by Edifier is a prime
example.
It looks like the traditional circular bell style
alarm clock, whose tinny rings plagued our childhood dreams. But this one has gone through a retro00 transformation.
Yes it sounds good on the surface but, like Michael Jackson we
think it might have gone a bit too far into its transformation - it doesn’t
have an actual clock face.
Instead, this has been replaced by a gaping space made for
any sized iPod. Also gone are the tinny sounds omitted from the “bells”, which
now disguise two 3W omni speakers.
Therefore – and we never thought we’d hear ourselves say
this – we are quite thankful that the alarm element of the “clock” is still
firmly intact. Well there wouldn’t be any point in calling it an alarm clock at
all if it didn’t would it? It would be like chocolate without the cocoa bean.
Once the clock is synched with an iPod, it can be set to
wake you up with the playlist, song or podcast of your choice. A word of
caution though- throwing Robbie against the wall to shut him up in the morning
will only do harm to your iPod.
What is the price on this new high tech gaget and does it work well?
