Mustek’s new digital picture frames enter Tech Boutique’s house of sophistication

Tech Boutiquers we have found something else to go into our house of sophistication – well two things really.

The 7-inch (easy girls, this is a tech site) PF-A700 and 8-inch PF-D800 are two new digital LCD picture frames from Mustek which will sit nicely next to the LG Jar monitor, the Dualit radio and funky television - thanks to their good looks and features.

Encased in a sleek black glossy design the Mustek PF-D800 does more jobs than an average handy man. Not only does it display pic’s in a range of methods but it also plays audio and video files.

What the PF-A700 lacks in inches it makes up for in features - as well as bearing all the brains and glossy good looks of its brother it also supports video playback in MPEG-1, -2, -4 formats and an onboard menu. Pfa700_mustek_1

Both frames can either be put on a desk or mounted to the wall, however we suggest the latter - its a good way to get your beau to look up to you without you actually having to do anything.

The iSkins Duo protector- The bodyguard for your iPod Nano

Picture the scene, you leave the pub after a few Friday night tipples, and reach into your pocket to switch on your Nano, however, in your white wine stupour you end up dropping it onto the floor instead of your pocket.

Those with tougher Nano's may end up with just a scratch, but for others it means the only songs you will hear on the tube home are from the drunken man on the chair next to you.

Nano_duo_protecter_1 For those who do not consider the sangria fuelled serenade as a good end to the night ,iSkins has come up with a solution that may just protect your iPod - and your ears.

The Duo protector works like a “Bodyguard” and like the film protects Whitney and um, Kylie and Robbie on your second generation Nano.

Like Kevin Costner it sports stylish good looks with all-round protection and features a clear frosted inner silicone layer which has been specially treated to resist dust and protect against moisture. It is also shock absorbing, meaning your iPod is less likely to break if you drop it - making it perfect for use after a few beverages - it’s just a shame iSkins hasn’t come up with a Tech boutique staff version…

The Samsung Lily phone - smells as sweet as a uh, Lily

Contrary to many men’s beliefs’ we gadget girls are as trendy and fashionable as the next girl. We don’t dress like Ugly Betty, and we most certainly don’t have thick metal rimmed glasses (sorry to ruin the fantasy).
Miss_sixty_lily_1 So imagine our excitement when we were told about the Lily, a new phone by Samsung that has been co designed by Miss Sixty

The phone is as skinny as its human namesake – Lily Cole, and as small as a pair of Miss Sixty jeans - and believe us they are small. If you haven’t ever had the pleasure of trying to get them on - think Ross and the leather trousers incident in Friends.

Anyway where were we? oh yes, The Lily is a white clamshell phone which is set against a purple background and has a delicate floral motif which lights up when the phone rings – perfect if you need to keep it on silent at work.

And yet again, this phone has brains as well as looks – seriously are there no Paris Hiltons of the phone world?

Not only does it have a VGA camera equipped with a double zoom feature it also comes with 2MB of internal memory and a built-in clock on the facia so that you'll always know exactly how fashionably late you are.

It also comes with a free bottle of Miss Sixty’s Elixir perfume – well at least we can say we are wearing something Miss Sixty, eh.

Ego lifestyle Love edition - please be our Valentine

Dear Ego-Lifestyle “love edition” laptop will you be our Valentine?

We love the way you dress all in leather- despite it being pink and the way you wear your heart on your front. If you give it to us we will carry it in our hands and on our laps forever.

But Love edition that’s not the only reason why we want you to be our Valentine, it’s your added silver charm, 12”, uh widescreen and strong 80GB memory that makes you so special.

We also love the way you can capture our smiles with your photographic feature, the way you sing our favourite songs with your CD and DVD playback and the way you can keep on talking and working for up to 3.5 hours- something that’s hard to find in any man.

Ego_love_edition So Ego love, what do you think?

We promise to feed you and help you put on a bit of weight - because at 2.6 kilograms you will be lighter than us and that’s not allowed - keep the bow on your head nicely tied, even though it is a bit girly and we'll even take you anywhere we go.

What’s that? You will? Oh that’s made our day – but only if we pay the £3,349.00 retail price?

Um, do you have a less pricy brother we can contact?

FUNKit DJ – our perfect dancing partner

You have to admit, we are an honest bunch here at Tech boutique, not only do we tell you about our crushes on various footballers and film stars but we also don’t have any qualms about admitting to dancing around our rooms like stark raving loonies – oh did we fail to mention that one before?

Funkit1_2Now whilst we don’t want to put the loony dancing badge on anyone else we are sure there must be some others around that embark on this hobby. No? Well you won’t be interested in hearing that we have found the ultimate loony dancing partner -who we have nick named Johnny in tribute to Dirty dancing- to accompany us then will you?

Johnny aka the FUNKit Animated DJ speaker system - is an Apple iPod Docking Station that reacts to your music with dynamic dancing animation and record scratching.

Still here? We’ll just put it down to curiosity shall we?

Compatible with all iPods (and loony dancers) he dances, flashes (no not in the man in an anorak sense) and speaks random DJ catchphrases.

He also has a high quality pair of uh,- Altec Lansing speakers built in - right we think we’ll just go back to original name now before we get ourselves into trouble.

The FUNKit DJ is powered by the included mains adapter, and can also be connected to a PC via a  miniUSB cable - a good dancer and a man that can be kept on a leash- what more do we need?

Samsung NV3, gives us picture memoirs

Ok we admit it, we completely fell in love with all things Oriental after we read Memoirs of a Geisha, and wished we were as graceful and talented as Sayuri – don’t deny it you did too.

Not only could the girl sing and dance but she could also speak to guys without making a fool of herself – and she bagged herself a nice rich husband to top it off. So what did we do? We tried to Samsung_nv3_3follow her lead; Sushi for breakfast, dance lessons, heck we even planted Japanese Cherry blossom trees but despite searching we couldn’t find any gadgets to tie in to our theme.

Then we found the new digital camera from Samsung.

The NV3 OPL is a special edition camera that is coated in a lacquered oriental plant design which evokes artistic techniques from Eastern Asia.

However, like a Geisha it doesn’t just rely on its looks to get it through; it also comes with a range of good features such as 7.2 mega-pixels, 3 x optical zoom and advanced shake reduction technology. And like its Geisha counterpart it is also seems it’s musically blessed - it doubles as an MP3 player, portable media player and digital camcorder

Yes we know we need a lot more than this to get Sayuri’s Geisha qualities but hey at least it will help us with our memoirs.

Fashion and features make new LG phone shine

Ok so we know we were a bit naughty and gave you a sneak preview of LG’s shine phone back in December, but we were so excited we couldn’t wait.

So imagine what we were like when we actually got to go to the official launch this afternoon – oh it’s a hard life we lead at Tech Boutique.
3_4viewopencopy
We have already told you about the aesthetic qualities of this phone but in case you have forgotten, or want to hear from the uh, horses mouth, the Shine is basically a stylish silver, phone which has been blessed with better than genes and looks than its Chocolate sibling.

Yep, that’s right; you read correctly, it is better than the LG Chocolate.

The Shine, is a full metal slider phone that when on standby, has a reflective mirror 2.2” LCD screen which is perfect for checking your make- up in, or in our case to see if we have any of our lunch stuck in our teeth – don’t laugh, it happens to the best of us.
In addition it also features a 2 mega pixel camera, 50MB internal memory which can be extended to 2Gig with an external memory Micro SD, perfect for playing  the MP3, iTunes and WAV music formats which it supports.

The 2G version of the Shine is available from today on all networks apart from Vodafone. The 3G version is expected to be available later on this year.

TAO digital picture keyring - a perfect gift for Valentines

Yes we know there is still a week to go before Valentines but we thought we’d give you a little bit of an early kick, well we don’t want the other half moaning that we leave things to the last minute do we - that’s for us to do to them. Ltptaokeyring

Anyway, enough of an insight into the domestics, we have found a present that will make sure you stay close to his heart and fit snugly into his trouser pocket this Valentines day.

No, it’s not Alice in Wonderland’s incredible shrinking potion or a size zero diet book, it’s actually a digital picture key ring by TAO.

Compatible with both Macs and PCs, this dinky device lets you transfer 56, or 8 MB worth, of top snaps and display them on the frames 1.4 inch sceeen simply by hopping onto a computer and downloading them via the USB cable provided.

Fully charged, this little marvel has 2.5 hours of battery life and as it automatically switches off after three minutesto save the battery, he’ll have no reason not to show your gorgeous smiling face to his friends. A word of advice though - the Cheshire cat smile should well and truly stay in Wonderland.

HANNSvaas TV is music to our eyes

We all know about odd couples, Liza M and David Guest, Marilyn Manson and Dita Von Teese and David Beckham and Victoria. Well ok maybe not the last one but hey, anyone else next to David is going to look a bit odd, after all we are his perfect match.

However, it still came a bit of a shock to us when we saw the newest creation to the weird and wonderful Hanspree family. Cello_tv

Now we can’t blame those who, like us, are a little bit blind, no not by our love for David-  the HANNSvaas TV will have many confused.

So what is it? Is it a Cello? Is it a tele? Um, no it’s a bit of both, it’s a TV in the shape of a cello - you see we told you it was a weird partnership.

The TV, has a glossy surround made up of black walnut wood grain in a lacquered finish. This is offset by dark, material speakers positioned either side of the 15” screen.

Just in case we couldn’t see where Hanspree were going with this - it also has a  chrome coated aluminium stand which has been designed to imitate a cello pin. Now if we didn't know better we would say that this TV really was music to our eyes - ok sorry, we know, we know, we’ll um, just go home now....
